Farmfest this weekend!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Farmfest posterI’m very excited, and honored, to be playing at Farmfest this weekend, just outside of Winnipeg.

I don’t know if I’m more looking forward to the music, the relationships or the delicious-sounding farm-fresh fall supper. Probably the supper.

If you are anywhere near the Peg this weekend, come check out this awesome event!

The Dog Show This Thursday

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Well, I’m getting around to a lot of unique places these days!

This past weekend I was at The Velvet Underground for a LATE, great show with David Barnhoorn and Allosaurus. Good times indeed. Allosaurus helped me to learn that “if your mom says “do it” … DO IT!

Anyways, this Thursday night I’m back at the Carrot, but this time as a sidedish to an evening of Dog Sonnets. Yes. Dog Sonnets by Catherin Owen to be exact. I’m looking forward to experiencing something different, and I hope you’ll come and do the same!

Guess who’s headed to the studio?

Friday, May 30th, 2008

No, it’s not Hootie and Blowfish. You can come out now.

This weekend I will be renting some gear and kicking off the recording of the latest greatest Bridge Songs project: Collective.

Bridge Songs is a group of singer-songwriters, including myself and my good friend Cora McLachlan, from Urban Bridge Church.

The CD we record over the next week and a half will be released June 21st, with a live performance and art show to boot at the Alberta Avenue Community Hall!

So, mark June 21, 2008 on your calendar now. As all these artist collaborate together into a “Collective”, I’m excited to see, and hear, what comes of it all.

Catch me at Cafè LEVA this Friday night

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

My first show in over a month is at Cafè LEVA this Friday night (May 23rd) at 7:30 PM.

There is no cover, the cappucino is AMAZING and so is the Gelato. It’s also a great family friendly venue with the coolest Muppet Show book I’ve ever seen.

I finally went out and bought a looper pedal this week as well, so my repertoire will be slightly enhanced! Let’s hear it for the Glockenspeil!

More details on the tour page.

Faith Triptych Part 2

Faith Triptych Part 2, originally uploaded by dvonbieker.

I have been getting into photography a lot more lately (hurrah, I am justifying my digital SLR purchase!). I have also joined a Photography group to try and hone my skills.

We get assignments every two weeks and the most recent one was “triptych”. I decided to do a triptych exploring images of faith.

This is the second photo of that set, and I just love the look of this tree. Not musical, I know, but it’s ok to expand, right? Perhaps I’ll write a song about it.

March 14 – Back at The Carrot

Monday, January 7th, 2008

With a new arsenal of gear (well, a harmonica, a Glockenspeil and a computer program I’m not yet sure how to work), I’m looking forward to playing some new and revamped material this year.

My first booked show of 2008 is March 14 at The Carrot. See you there?
